Why the Note Says Law 1970 but the Issue Is 1975

P#186 is sometimes broadly described as a 1970s banknote because its inscriptions refer to the Turkish Central Bank law dated 14 January 1970. However, that legal date should not be confused with the actual issue year of this catalogue variety.

P#186 is recorded as ND (1975) and entered circulation on 7 April 1975. Therefore, identifying the product as a 1975 issue gives collectors a more precise description while still recognizing the 1970 law printed on the banknote.

An Istanbul-Focused Reverse

While Atatürk provides continuity with other E6 denominations on the front, the reverse gives the 10 Lira note its own collector identity. Maiden’s Tower establishes the Bosphorus setting, whereas the historic skyline expands the design beyond a single landmark.
